“Attack on Titan” Final Episode: Ellen Speaks Out in a TV Interview Before “The Rumbling”?

Attack on Titan

The final episode of “Attack on Titan” will be aired on November 4th on NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation).

NHK is originally a public broadcaster, similar to the UK’s BBC, and is known for its relatively serious programming. Within this broadcasting network, there is a renowned documentary series called “Professionals”.

This program typically showcases important people from different areas. However, surprisingly, they aired a documentary about the anime character Ellen on October 23rd, which was a first of its kind. Of course, the character is voiced by a real actor, and the content is well-made under the supervision of the creator, Isayama Hajime. It’s typical of “Attack on Titan,” with funny moments and a close look at Ellen’s true character. The anime characters talking about manga events as if they are real is really unique and enjoyable, even for people who aren’t fans.

Specifically…(There might be slight spoilers ahead.)
When asked about how he spends his free time, Ellen answered the question seriously, saying, “Lately, I mainly experience life by feeling the extremes of heat and cold in the sauna.” His sincere response was both funny and charming. In the middle of the show, other characters like Mikasa, Armin, and Levi also joined. They had in-depth discussions, including topics like how to defeat titans, even straying from the main story.
Towards the end, the focus returned to Ellen’s solo interview. One of the standard questions of the show was, “What does being a professional mean to you?” Ellen answered, “I will see it through no matter what happens or what others say. I will keep moving forward” This summed up the program.

Additionally, the lyrics of the chorus part of the ending song express say “moving forward step by step”. Fans on social media are getting excited because this seems to evoke the concept of “The Rumbling” in the series. Is it a coincidence? Or was it intentional? Fans are buzzing about this match-up on social media.

NHK, the broadcasting station, also has a website called NHK World for international viewers. Hopefully, fans from overseas will have a chance to watch the show there.
